When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Today, I was reminded of what it’s like to do something for the first time. While on what for me is a very routine task. Going to the airport, through security, boarding a plane, listening to the flight attendant with card  in hand, take off and landing. So many of us can do this in our sleep.

This time it was different. The twenty-something woman sitting next to me was doing something for the first time. Flying! To her the whole process was exciting. The experience of it all. She was a little anxious. Let’s face it she was white knuckling the armrest as we began to accelerate down the runway. Her body pushed back into the seat, not knowing what would happen next. When I told her we were in the air. She looked shocked, as if it was easier than she thought. Then she raised her window shade to reveal in fact that we were separated from the planet. Amazed, she began to document this with photographs. She will never be the same. I will never be the same.

She reminded me to not take anything for granted. We are supposed to be exactly where we are, so why not make the most of it. Enjoy life, seek out adventures you have not been on, and make the adventures you go on daily, new again.

Enjoy
